Reviewer Guidelines

Given the North Carolina Sociological Association’s focus on stimulating and improving research and cooperation, the editors of Sociation are dedicated to a constructive peer-review process. Referees should first and foremost judge the scientific rigor and quality of the contribution. They should also seek to identify each manuscript’s potential and encourage authors to develop and improve their paper and ideas regardless of their specific publishing recommendation to the editors.

Completed reviews should be submitted via email to sociation.uncp.edu. Confidential feedback to the editor should be included in the text of the email. In the confidential feedback to the editors please include your recommendation for whether to 1) Accept, 2) Accept Contingent upon Revisions, 3) Revise and Resubmit, or 4) Reject the manuscript for publication in Sociation.

Anonymous feedback for the authors should be submitted as an email attachment. If you must include it in the text of the email, please make it clear in the text of the email where the feedback for the authors begins.

Sociation’s editorial staff is also committed to a timely and expedited review process and we ask that you complete your review within 4 weeks of accepting our reviewer request. If at any point during the review process you determine that you will be unable to complete the review within the four-week timeframe, please let the editors know, so they can communicate the potential delay to the author(s) of the manuscript if necessary.
